Activity

In groups, students create their own choreography, film it TikTok-style and edit the video in CapCut.

Added value

Dance as non-verbal expression builds teamwork and self-confidence, from planning and rehearsing through to performing.

Dance as a form of expression is an important part of arts education. It allows students to express their emotions and thoughts non-verbally and so develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them. Classical music and pop are combined, and students create their own choreography that reflects their personal interpretation of the music.

TikTok-style, they film their choreography and then edit it with the free video app ‘CapCut’. Along the way, they explore the differences and similarities between the two genres and are encouraged to plan and act independently.

Below you will find a sample lesson sequence as well as tips on creating a pleasant working atmosphere, preventing inhibitions and getting past creative blocks.
